Magmount Zion International School has partnered with RecellGhana Computerlabs (RGC) to advance to digital education. The partnership helped Magmount Zion International School transition to a 21-workstation computerlab which comes with a server, thin client, internet, an uninterrupted power supply (UPS), router with monthly data bundle, Ghana’s ICT curriculum software, and teacher training.

Some of this software is Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Publisher. Other software includes GIMP for editing images, TIP10 for typing lessons, Scratch for coding, and some generic applications such as File Manager, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, File Explorer, Recycle Bin, and PDF Reader. RGC will provide remote monitoring, maintenance, replacement, and updating of the software so that the teachers and the learners of the school can consistently have access to a well-equipped computerlab.
RecellGhana Computerlabs also conducted a base training for the educators at the school after the installation of the computerlab. The training was to empower all the teachers of the school with the basic ICT skills they need to train their learners to help them acquire and improve their ICT skills.

Most educators in Ghana, including computing facilitators, lack the basic and required computing knowledge and skills; therefore, they resort to theory-based teaching instead of practical lessons. Due to this, learners do not experience a full practical experience of the subject. Such a situation places students in difficult situations after school where they find themselves lacking the necessary digital skills to compete in the job market.
Schools should take advantage of this opportunity to get quality digital education in their institution, which will boost the image of the school, increase career opportunities, and aim for the development of the nation in the long run. You can reach us at 053 511 1599.
